The Klamath are a minor civilization in Age of Empires III.

OverviewEdit

The Klamath are available as allies on the California and Northwest Territory maps. Once a trading post is built at their camp, a player can recruit Klamath riflemen and research available upgrades.

UnitsEdit

The Klamath rifleman is similar to a skirmisher in it's damage bonuses, though it has less range in exchange for more hit points.

UpgradesEdit

Klamath upgrades focus on boosting an allied economy and improving the Klamath riflemen.

Klamath Huckleberry Feast (Discovery Age): Receive a crate of 100 wood for every 3 minutes of game time, up to half an hour.
Cost:150 Wood , 150 Coin

Klamath Work Ethos (Discovery Age): Inreases villager gather rates by 5%.
Cost: 100 Food , 100 Wood , 100 Coin

Klamath Strategy (Fortress Age): Increases Klamath rifleman damage by 25%.
Cost: 200 Wood , 150 Coin

Klamath Warrior Societies (Fortress Age): Klamath attack and HP raised by 25%.
Cost: 200 Wood , 150 Coin

Klamath Champions (Industrial Age): Klamath attack and hitpoints raised by 40%.
Cost: 400 Wood , 300 Coin

UsefulnessEdit

  • The Klamath huckleberry feast is useful for generating wood to produce fishing boats for a water boom strategy on California or producing defensive buildings for a turtle strategy.
  • Klamath work ethos is largely useless except in long running games such as Treaty games. The 5% increase is so tiny that it's hard to justify in any other mode of play unless the spare resources are available.
  • Klamath strategy is a solid upgrade for the Klamath rifleman, extending their usefulness. Especially for civilizations which lack skirmishers of their own.
  • All native tribes can only be upgraded to Legendary/Exalted status at the town center or capitol, they can be upgraded to Elite/Disciplined or Champion/Honored for free through some home city shipments.
  • Civilizations can remove the upgrade gold costs, or cut the upgrade costs in half depending on their home city cards.

In-game dialogue Edit

They speak Klamath-Modoc, a Plateau Penutian language.
